How To Shop For Queen Waterbed Sheets

If you have a waterbed you may love the way it feels to sleep on but hate buying bedding. Queen waterbed sheets used to be quite common but as people moved back to conventional mattresses they became harder to find and more expensive as a result. Now, however, with the increasing popularity of soft sided waterbeds, sheets are becoming more widely available again.

The type of queen waterbed sheets you are going to purchase will depend heavily on the kind of waterbed that you have. If it is a conventional waterbed with a wooden frame, you will need sheets specifically designed for a waterbed. You may not be able to find these in any local retailer but you may be able to find a source at an online bedding site. This is because they can offer a wider range of items and so will sometimes have waterbed sheets offered as well as conventional sheets.

If you go to the store where you purchased your conventional waterbed, see if they have any sheets on their display models. If so, check the tags to see who manufactured the set you are looking at. Then, you can always search them online and find sites that carry their products. It may take some time and you may want to purchase several sets at one time in case you have trouble finding them again. Or, you can also ask the clerk if he knows where queen waterbed sheets can be purchased.

There is a new type of waterbed on the market which is much easier to find sheet sets for. Soft sided waterbeds use a special mattress which does not need a wooden frame. Because the mattress is more structured, conventional sheets have a better chance of fitting, making them much easier to locate. If you are looking for conventional queen waterbed sheets for your soft sided waterbed, make sure you look for sheets labeled “deep pocket”. These are designed to fit the new pillow top mattresses that are much thicker than old mattresses and so will have a fitted sheet that has deeper corners.

After you have found a selection of sheets which will fit your bed, you can then pick the material that you like the feel of and the patterns and colors you find most attractive. If you are purchasing them for spring or summer use, look for sheets made of cotton that has a high thread count. These increase the price but they are less prone to wrinkling and feel softer and smoother to sleep on. Flannel can be great for the fall and winter as the temperature begins to drop.

Don’t let the fact that you have a waterbed deter you from finding beautiful queen waterbed sheets. Taking the time to locate a good selection means that your waterbed can be as beautiful and comfortable as any conventional coil spring mattress.
