I һаνе bееח out οf state аחԁ neglected tο treat mу οƖԁ waterbed аt mу parents’ home. Tһеrе іѕ now algae inside tһе mattress. I tһіחk іt іѕ beyond tһе point wһеrе tһе typical “waterbed treatment solution” wіƖƖ һеƖр. Iѕ tһеrе anything I add tο purify tһе water inside οr іѕ іt a lost cause?

Add a little (A LITTLE) bit of bleach. Should kill em off.
you could use 1/2 a bottle of bleach at first to kill it and to loosen it up.
You might be able to put maybe a cup in afterwards to prevent it.
You could go with rubbing alcohol, but it wouldn’t be as effective.
i would bleach it, let it work for a day or two, then drain and refill the bed. too much bleach long term wouldn’t do the mattress any favors. good luck.

NO NO NO to the Bleach! Bleach is a corrosive and it may weaken or destroy the vinyl. You may end up with a leaky bed or worse. You want an algicide that is designed for waterbeds. It can be found either online or at any store that sells waterbeds. Follow the instructions.
